Is this SaaS book still relevant given how fast AI is changing everything?

The tactics around code and tools — increasingly less so, honestly. The principles around finding a market, pricing, listening to users, and surviving the early years — those don’t change. AI just shortens the build phase. Everything that happens after is the same hard problem.

When I wrote this in 2024, building a SaaS still meant months of engineering before you saw a customer. In 2026 it’s days, sometimes hours. That changes the math on what an MVP looks like, but it doesn’t change the math on whether anyone wants what you built.

The book is more useful now for the chapters after “ship the product” than the ones before. Marketing, pricing, customer relations, scaling — those problems didn’t go away because AI got good at code. If anything they got harder, because the barrier to launching dropped and competition multiplied.

If I were rewriting it today, I’d shorten the early prototyping chapters and double the chapters on finding and keeping customers. The advice in those chapters stands.
